We will learn how to prepare and apply herbal steams and profile four plants who aid us in this practice.

Join herbalist Andrea Jacome of cocarosa and herb worker Julia Aguilar for a session of relaxation, release, and nourishment for your skin. Come breathe deep with us on Sunday, Dec 9th!

All participants will receive materials to create their own personalized formula for herbal steams to take home with them.

Sacred Under Siege: Reclaiming Herbal Medicine from the Legacy of War on Drugs

Herbalism & access to healing continue to get subjected to the legacies of colonialism and racism not only by corporations but also by the war on drugs. Through focusing on the history of the coca leaf in the context of Colombia, this workshop will take a look at the ways in which powerful sacred medicine has been under siege in the name of the war of drugs. The first portion of the workshop will be a presentation on how coca has been a site of economic and political violence that has displaced peoples’ relationship to medicine and land. In uplifting the struggles of cocaleros movement in the Andean region, the second portion of the workshop will conclude with the question: what is the role of the herbalist in the struggle against the war on drugs in the context of the US?

Sexual Healing with Plant Medicine

As part of Confront, Heal, Prevent: Free School Against Sexual Violence

The legacy of sexual violence far exceeds our current #metoo movement. It’s intimately rooted as part of the fabric of the world’s larger capitalist and colonizing project. Fortunately, there is also a legacy of plant medicine we can call upon to find sexual healing for ourselves and our communities. Centering the wisdom of BIPOC teachings, this workshop will create an intimate space to honor and learn of herb allies and their methods of preparations in ways that can support reclaiming sexual power.
